| This is the simplest forming fabric and is available in 4 different varieties: |

2shaft plain weave (one up one down) design is normally used on extractor mould and for various applications, effluent treatment plants, sludge de-watering machines etc. |

3 shaft (one up two down) is used for sludge de-watering, washer and bleacher. |
| |
|
4shaft (one up three down) is simplest in construction as it imparts less wire marking and it is dominated by warp yarns. This design is commonly used in manufacture of all varieties of paper grade. |
| |
|
5 shaft (one up four down) this design has more internal void volume, more drainage capacity. This design finds more usage in Kraft and tissue making and writing /printing machines where more drainage is required. |
