Shalimar Wires Industries Limited Uttarpara, (formerly, SWIL Limited, Kolkata-India) a flagship company of the Satya Group, was set up in 1962, with a mission to provide import substitution to the Indian Paper Industry, which was totally dependent on imports for all its vital and significant inputs. It earned the ISO 9001-1994 version certification in the year 1997. It was certified to ISO 9001-2000 version 03-03-2003 and earned ISO 9001-2008 certificate on 06/03/2009.
To source the raw material, which was being imported earlier, the Company decided to go for backward Integration by setting up a Smelting / Wire drawing Plant at Nashik to manufacture its own raw material to be used for Captive consumption at their main Plant at Uttarpara, Kolkata.
